Frequently Asked Questions

How is your consignment sale different?

Our children’s consignment sale is a well organized event that provides our sellers with the opportunity to sell their children’s outgrown or unworn upscale, name brand clothing at or near online auction prices but without the hassle of selling online.  Only the best brands are sold, including Hanna Andersson, Oilily, Gap/Baby Gap, Janie and Jack, Boden, Naartjie, Limited Too, Baby Lulu, and more!  This is not like those sales where you have to hunt for the one nice piece among hundreds of stained off-brand clothing.  With Best Brands Resale, you're sure to find thousands of clean, beautiful name brand items and very reasonable prices!

Who can be involved?

Anyone can participate who has name brand items or outfits in excellent to new condition. A consignor fee of $15.00 per sale is required before registration to ensure that our high clothing standards are met. You will receive 65% of your sales, with the ability to earn even more by volunteering to work a 4-hour shift on the day of the sale.

Are there restrictions?

Since our sales are held seasonally, we ask that you bring clothing that is appropriate for the upcoming season. For example, your fall and winter clothing will sell best at the Back to School sale in August (jackets, sweaters, long pants, long sleeved shirts, etc.) and your spring and summer clothing will sell best at the sale in the spring (swim wear, shorts, sleeveless dresses, etc.)

We will only accept children’s clothing that are quality, upscale name brands such as Gymboree, Janie and Jack, Baby Lulu, Hanna Andersson, Gap, Oilily, Naartjie, etc.  Brands like Carters and OshKosh are not accepted.  We will provide pricing guidelines to help you get the best price for your clothes. We will have limited space for larger baby gear items such as furniture, swings, strollers, etc. For liability reasons, we will not be accepting carseats at our sale. If you have questions, please ask!  Also, because of space limitations, you will be limited in the amount of infant clothing you can bring.

We reserve the right to sort through your items before placing them for sale. We have a large following of customers already who are only looking for the best clothes for their children. Please don’t be offended if some of your items are rejected for various reasons. We have no doubt that our sale will be a huge success!

What are the benefits of consigning?

There are many benefits:

Make room for more! Twice a year you can go through your children’s closets as well as the bins of clothes you’ve saved (we do it, too!) and know that your items will go to other families who understand how to care for the clothes that you’ve loved so much, and who will love them just as much as you did!

Real income! Because of the strict standards of what we will allow, our consignors typically generate nearly as much as they would have if the items had been listed at an online auction. Consignors receive at least 65% of the sales from their items. We have had consignors make more than $1000 from a one day sale.

Shop in advance! As a consignor, you will be given the opportunity to shop before everyone else. This is one of the nicest benefits of consigning.

It's fun! It’s the thrill of the hunt – finding that piece you’ve been looking for in the next size because you loved it so much that you want to see her wear it again, finding great new outfits for gifts at great prices, just getting out and doing what you love – shopping for your little ones and getting great quality clothes with all of your favorite brands in one place!

What will I need?

If you plan on consigning with us, there are a few supplies you will need:

• Hangers: We have found that the best way to hang outfits together is to use hangers that have clasps on the tops (pants hangers.) Your items will sell best if they are grouped together as an outfit when possible (top, bottoms, hair accessory, etc.) Because of the high quality of our clothing items, we prefer that you do NOT pin the items together with safety pins! We can’t sell items that have holes in them from pins, and pins catch on things and create tears. Individual shirts can be hung on regular hangers; individual pants and skirts will be set on tables at the sale.

• Safety pins or a stapler: Our tags will be pinned or stapled to the hanging size tag in the collar or waistband of your clothes, in order to prevent holes and tears from pinning clothes to the fabric. If your item doesn’t have a size tag then we will have a tagging gun available at drop-off so you can tag your items safely at an inseam.

• Zip-lock bags and tape: You’ll want to place hair pretties, socks, tights and other accessories in bags and hang them with coordinating outfits when possible. Individual items will be placed in bags and the tag will be taped to the bag.

How do I get ready for the sale?

Wash, iron if needed, and hang clothing. We require that clothes be pre-hung on hangers. We’ve found that items grouped together as outfits sell best, and are kept together best by using hangers with clasps on the tops (pants hangers). When the item is facing you, the hanger should look like a question mark (?), with the open-end facing to the left.

• Check your items to make sure they are free of stains and tears and have working zippers, snaps and closures. Remember to ask yourself “Would I buy this for my child or grandchild?”

• Price your items. We’ll give out guidelines once you are registered, but please ask if you have questions!

Very important: Arrange your items by gender and size for easy check in. NOT numerical order.

• Make an appointment to drop off your items and then get ready for the pre-sale! Remember to pick up unsold items at pick-up time at the end of the sale (or make alternate arrangements IN ADVANCE,) or we will reserve the right to have them be forfeited. We do not donate unsold clothes. If you want them back, you must come pick them up!

How do I become a consignor?

After deciding to consign, click on the "Consign" button on the left side of the page and follow the directions to submit your payment through paypal. If you do not have a paypal account, please contact us for alternate arrangements. You will have to prepare and tag your items according to our requirements as listed on our website. You will also be asked to make an appointment to drop off your clothes and will be given an idea of what to expect on the drop-off day.
